- Poll
- Posted by kach on April 24, AD 2009 @ 12:25 AM
- It's definitely time for a new poll.
Caesar IV is now almost three years old and was developed for computers running Windows XP. New computers now come installed with Vista; so, have you experienced problems running Caesar IV under Vista?
If you'd like to see the results of any previous polls, look here.
- Team Contest at CBC
- Posted by kach on March 30, AD 2009 @ 7:38 PM
- Do you feel that your C4 strategies could be improved? Have you ever tried playing in a team contest? Besides offering you the chance to learn from some of the experts, it can be a lot of fun. The contest should start in about a month, but you'll need to register interest now, so the teams can be put together.
- Insane Contests
- Posted by kach on March 21, AD 2009 @ 6:57 PM
- The CBC contest Insanity Rising has finished and you can see the results here. Special congratulations to AndreasHauffe (first place on hard), and to Bastoche who managed an Insanity Rating of 101.
The AODE (Axis of Daggy Evil) now have a new contest running, Twisted Nicopolis. Caligula has set the rules: Waste resources and money, keep as many of your citizens as uncultured, unprosperous and as insecure as possible. A very strange contest indeed. A cult of Ara? A city with flying kangaroos? You can play the novice, easy, hard or insane version; you'll find more useful information in the forum at CBC.
- New Downloads
- Posted by kach on February 26, AD 2009 @ 11:46 PM
- There are two recent addition to the downloads section. Asteroid Annie from Goonsquad is a new scenario based on his CBC competition scenario Revenge of the Market Ladies. Goonsquad rates the scenario difficulty as 8 out of 10, so expect to find it quite challenging. If you would like a little more background, you can read his 'Designer's Notes' in the strategy discussion thread at CBC.
The second new file is the completed city Thamugadi from Mihaip - with a population of over 100,000 and culture and security ratings of 100. The screenshots accompanying the download have been resized; you can find the originals in the gallery.
- Insanity Rising
- Posted by kach on February 15, AD 2009 @ 12:20 AM
- Insanity Rising is the latest contest from the AODE at CBC. In the words of the designer:
A contest that will run for 4 weeks, taking 4 game years to complete (and be pretty easy to do so as well). It will answer such burning questions as: what did Jasonus Alexandrus do as an encore after the Labors of Herculaneum? why are the AODE releasing a sequel to a scenario that hasn't even been written yet (well, not quite)? and is it true that one of the characters in this scenario is actually a common ancestor shared by the Daggy Two?
Insanity Rising: second in the Jasonus Alexandrus trilogy and sequel to the forthcoming Twisted Nicopolis. In the dark pastures of Caledonia, no one can hear you bleat. Sounds like a lot of fun! You can find the contest thread here.

- Caesar IV Patches
- Posted by kach on January 28, AD 2009 @ 11:37 PM
- All the patches for Caesar IV are now available from Patches in the downloads. A lot of issues were fixed with 1.2, so if your copy of the game is not patched to 1.2, download and patch now. Besides, many saved games and custom scenarios will not load unless you have version 1.2 installed.
The patch for the UK/International English version is Caesar IV 1.2 Patch - English (en) - 1.0 to 1.2 only. That for the US retail version, is Caesar IV 1.2 Patch - English (en).
If you don't know the version number of your copy, look closely at the top right corner of the main menu screen - if you see 1.2, you have the latest version.
- City Planning

One thing we all wanted for Caesar IV was a grid to help with placing the buildings. Gladistir has solved the problem. This mod will give you a texture background that contains a faint grid (just enough to count, not enough to be disruptive). Don't forget to backup the original terrain textures folder before installing the new dds files.
- Deck the Hall

- Did you enjoy Twelve Days last year? Well, we have another 5 star, snow covered map for Christmas this year. In the author's words, Nos Galan is a tale of bribery, corruption and Christmas presents. It sounds like we're going to enjoy this one too. Thank you Hieronymus and Aramann.
- New Poll
- Posted by kach on December 9, AD 2008 @ 2:10 AM
- We've changed the poll. Our new question is: Have you played the custom campaign, Caesar in Exile? Scenario designer, Gordon Farrell, is looking for feedback; so if you have any comments, or would like to see a new custom campaign, please post here in the Caesar IV forum.
The results from our previous poll: Do you ever use cheat codes? No, absolutely not (194) Only when I'm planning my cities (25) Only to get round technical difficulties (38) Just occasionally (46) Sometimes (36) Often (44) You can see the results of all past polls here.
