Many years ago when i started playing this game i saw a design on TM forums from the user Pavel and from that moment all i wanted was to make it perfect.

My main goal was to build a city (block) with population as close as possible to the scenario requirements, have the maximum possible rating while using the minimum amount of buildings which depend on equites and have perfect coverage of all services.

The hardest challenge was the Overlay coverage, but after many years of hiatus and some work i believe i finally achieved this goal.

Using this block design as a base you can easily modify it by keeping your base road placement, but move around or switch places of buildings within it to fit your target population for any of the default scenarios in game and achieve your perfection!

Sadly i don't have time or will to go on and do a few smaller variations with my latest changes, but a good example can be found in one of my early iterations of this design on Colonia Agrippina (5k pop). You can also find my first iteration of the 10k design in my Ephesus submission. Both are available for download here on HeavenGames.

I wasn't happy with the way i built this city to represent the block design so i have finally decided to rebuild it properly, as i wanted to show it in the first place.

Ignore the outside production and trading areas as those don't matter and are up to each individual how to design them and are map dependent. What matters is the living block space inside the aqueduct ring as that is what i am sharing with you.

You want your granaries to be close to your farms and markets at the same time to avoid using chain of buildings to deliver the food from the farm land to the people as it can cause issues, as with any city design and my previous version.

In the process of rebuilding i have addressed some issues i found:

-Tax collection should be now perfect
-Forum coverage is now perfect (Note: You have to sacrifice the Luxury and Exotic markets within the block to fit the forum or risk sacrificing some other markets or end up with a design mess like in my previous version :))
-No more ugly market middle area

P.S. If i am not lazy maybe, just maybe, i will get around and redo my Ephesus map and upload it here with all the changes. I believe it would be a good representation of what it used to be and what it is now, years later, to compare for me personally.

I don't know much. All i do is trying to make use of all the available information.
Overcoming a challenge or solving a problem requires completely different mindset than creating such.
